Kate Thompson has an MA in English and French literature from Trinity College, Dublin. She has had fifteen best-selling novels published, including the number one bestseller The Blue Hour (shortlisted for an RNA award) and the  Lissamore Trilogy. Kate lives some of the year in Dublin, and some on the West coast of Ireland. She is happily married, with one daughter. A former actress, she was the recipient of a Dublin Theatre Festival Best Actress award. Kate has contributed to numerous publications and broadcast media in both Ireland and the UK; her novels have been translated into French, German, Greek, Italian, Czech and Dutch, and are available as audio books. She is a scuba diver, a wild swimmer, and the fond keeper of a beautiful Burmese cat. In July 2014 she published her first historical novel, Liberty Silk, under the nom de plume Kate Beaufoy. This was followed by Another Heartbeat in the House in 2015. Another Heartbeat was shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards.
Her next novel - The Gingerbread House - is due in 2017.
